Rugby Field Venues Around The Gulf Region

There are only a handful of rugby clubs that have their own dedicated clubhouse and rugby field. The majority of teams share sports grounds with other clubs or hire rugby pitches from local schools who have the facilities available.

Al Ain Rugby Ground

Arguably one of the best grass pitches in the UAE and probably the Middle East, Al Ain Amblers rugby fixtures can be on on one of their five full sized grass rugby pitches.

Facilities include floodlit pitches, grand stand and bar/restaurant, swimming pools and good sized changing rooms. Visiting teams always enjoy a run out here. The rugby fields are also used for international sporting events and the club recently played host to the West Asia Rugby 7’s Olympic Qualifier rugby fixture.

Al Habtoor Polo Resort

Al Habtoor Polo Resort in Dubai is home to the Sharks Rugby Club. Set on a palatial property, this swanky Andalusian-inspired resort is 12 km from shopping and entertainment at Global Village. There are 3 high-end restaurants and 3 chic bars. Other amenities include stables, 4 polo fields and an outdoor pool, as well as a kids’ pool, a serene spa and a gym. Tennis courts and a driving range are also offered.

Dubai Police Academy

Tiger’s Park, located in Al Sufouh 1, just next to the Ripe Market and Dubai Police Academy. It is the home ground to the Dubai Tigers rugby club.

The Facilities include two grass rugby pitches and great views of the Burj Al Arab. Access to this rugby field is via Abdullah Omran Taryam Street.

Dubai Sports City

Rugby Park, located in Sports City, just off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E-311).

The Facilities include two full-size, International Rugby Board (IRB)-standard, floodlit grass pitches, as well as one IRB-standard, outdoor artificial turf pitch and one IRB-standard, air-conditioned, indoor artificial turf pitch. The grandstands overlooking the main outdoor pitch can seat 2,660 spectators with a bar overlooking the pitches.

Jebel Ali

Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence (JACOE), located just 15mins from Dubai Marina, just off Sheikh Zayed Road is home ground to the Jebel Ali Dragons rugby club.

The JA Sports Centre is a purpose built training facility and consists of four fully floodlit international sized rugby pitches, one artificial floodlit FIFA 2 star and IRB certified rugby pitch.

Sharjah Wanderers

The Sharjah rugby fixtures are played right in the heart of Sharjah at their home ground to the Sharjah Wanderers rugby club.

Facilities include two floodlit rugby pitches, as well as gym, swimming pool and tennis court. Just off Sheikh Rashid Bin Saqr road, it’s easily accessible from Dubai and other Emirates.

Dubai Sevens Stadium

The Sevens Stadium along the Al Ain Road is home ground to the Exiles, Hurricanes rugby clubs as well as the location for the Dubai Sevens Rugby competition held each year. The stadium is located 2.5km past exit 30 on the Dubai-Al Ain Road, making it the ideal location for anyone travelling from different Emirates.

The Facilities include 8 floodlit pitches, an International Standard playing surface, multiple changing rooms, swimming pool and a fully licensed bar.

Zayed Sports City Stadium

Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi is home to the Harlequins Rugby Club. Located on Khaleej Al Arabi street, it has extensive facilities with ample parking, toilet facilities, coffee shops and of the Sportsmans Arms. The rugby pitches stand in the shadow of the largest stadium in the UAE with a seating capacity of over 45,000 and is home to the UAE National football team.
