Dubai Kicks Off U15 Football Challenge Cup Featuring Top Arab Youth Teams
Twenty teams from across the region set to compete in four-day tournament spotlighting youth talent and regional unity through sport
Dubai’s Humaid Al Tayer Stadium at Al Nasr Club will today welcome the kickoff of the Under-15 Football Challenge Cup, a youth tournament bringing together 20 teams from across the Arab world.
The competition, running until Sunday, May 4, is organised by the Dubai Sports Council in partnership with Delta Company. It forms part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to grow youth sport, development talent, and promote the emirate as a premier destination for sports tourism.
Teams from the UAE will be joined by youth sides from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, and Iraq. Among the UAE representatives are leading clubs including Al Nasr, Al Wasl, Shabab Al Ahli, and Hatta Club. International contenders include Oman’s Al Seeb Club and reigning champions Al Jawhara Academy, Dhahran Club from Saudi Arabia, and Amman Club from Jordan.

A Regional Platform for Future Stars
This year’s edition was carefully curated to ensure competitive balance, with ten UAE-based sides facing ten from the wider Arab region. The format is designed to give each local team the experience of playing against international opposition, enhancing both technical skills and cross-cultural sporting ties.
“These international events are essential to the rise in performance among local clubs”
Held under the strategic vision of the Dubai Sports Council, the tournament continues a growing calendar of youth events, which includes established competitions like the Dubai Intercontinental Cup U13 and the MENA Dubai Cup.
“These international events are essential to the rise in performance among local clubs,” the Dubai Sports Council noted, citing the importance of public-private collaboration in building sustained athletic excellence.
A Legacy of Competition and Collaboration
The Under-15 Football Challenge Cup is now in its third edition. Last year’s champions, Al Jawhara Academy of Oman, will return to defend their title, having edged out UAE’s Al Nasr in the 2024 final. The tournament’s inaugural crown went to Jordan’s Forsan team, who defeated Lebanon’s Safa Club, with Al Wasl placing third.
Beyond competition, the tournament underscores Dubai’s broader mission to unite Arab youth through sport. By offering a professional, well-organised stage for emerging talent, the event reflects the emirate’s role as a regional leader in sports development and international collaboration.
