The Dubai Sports Council has launched the 2025 edition of its Summer Football Tournament, running from 1 to 13 August. The event brings together youth academies from across the UAE and Gulf region, offering players aged 13 to 17 a competitive platform to prepare for the new season.
Now in its fifteenth year, the tournament plays a central role in the Council’s strategy to develop local football talent.
Tournament Format and Locations
This year’s competition features five age categories—Under-13 to Under-17—across multiple venues: Dubai Sports World, Al Wasl Club, Al Nasr Club, and Shabab Al Ahli Club.
Seven teams are participating: Shabab Al Ahli, Al Wasl, Al Nasr, Hatta Club, Saudi Youth, Gunners Academy, and Al Furjan Academy. Each category follows a single round-robin format. The team with the most points in each group is crowned champion.
Fixtures and Schedule
The Under-14 tournament began on 1 August at Al Wasl Club. Games continue on 5 and 9 August between 5:30 pm and 7:15 pm.
Under-15 matches begin 2 August at Al Nasr Club and conclude on 10 August. Kickoff for all matches is at 6:00 pm.
Shabab Al Ahli Club hosts both the Under-16 and Under-17 categories. The Under-16 competition started 1 August and finishes on 9 August. The Under-17 group runs from 2 to 10 August, also with 6:00 pm kickoffs.
The Under-13 tournament takes place from 11 to 13 August at Dubai Sports World, with games scheduled from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
New Competitive Element
Each match is followed by a penalty shootout, regardless of the result. This format prepares players for high-pressure scenarios and improves decision-making and goalkeeping reflexes.
Organisational Planning and Oversight
Before the tournament, the organising committee met with academy managers to confirm rules, schedules, and protocols. The UAE Football Association has appointed match officials to ensure consistent standards across all games.
