Amateur cycling’s flagship event in the Middle East to double in size, promising a festival atmosphere and world-class race experience

The world-renowned amateur cycling event, L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France, will return to the UAE on Sunday, January 25, 2026, following a successful debut earlier this year. The 2026 edition will welcome 2,000 cyclists, doubling the number of participants from its inaugural race.

L’Étape Dubai has quickly earned its place on the regional cycling calendar, offering amateur riders the chance to experience a Tour de France-style race in the UAE. The first edition in February 2025 drew over 1,000 participants, including 243 international riders and 266 Emiratis.

The 2026 event will again feature 101 km and 50 km competitive races, alongside a 20 km Family Ride and kids’ races. The Saturday program (January 24) will include community activities, non-competitive rides, and expanded race village experiences.

“After this successful first year, we are very proud to announce that L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France will come back to the UAE for a second edition,” said Antoine Quiers of A.S.O., organisers of the Tour de France. “Thanks to the support of our partners, we look forward to making 2026 even more successful.”

Riding Momentum

Organisers will continue the tradition of hosting former Tour de France legends, building on last year’s participation from three ex-professionals.

Essa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at the Dubai Sports Council, said:

“I am confident that the next edition will be even more successful, thanks to the heightened stature of cycling in Dubai and the availability of tracks extending hundreds of kilometers across the city. Participating in this race will be an unforgettable experience.”

Škoda’s Support Continues

Lukas Honzak, Managing Director of Škoda Middle East, said:

“We are proud to support the country’s passion for cycling. The event reflects Škoda’s focus on active lifestyles, smarter mobility, and community support. We invite cyclists across the UAE to register and take part in next year’s event.”
